Jose Maria T. Zabaleta
Chairman, Project Strategy & Government Relations
Joe has spent his entire career in the agri-business sector after starting in the sugarcane fields at the age of 18. He went on to become EVP of a Sugar Mill and Refinery, COO of a 4,000 acre plantation, and, more recently, CEO of an integrated Cane and Biomass Mill, Refinery and Power Plant. He has served as both President and Executive Director of the Philippine Sugar Millers, worked as Chief Sugar Industry Lobbyist to Philippine & International bodies and was once Annual Chairman of the International Sugar Organization in London. He has served on the Boards of numerous private and public companies, and spent three years with Government in the Sugar Regulatory Administration. He currently directs business strategy and government relations as Chairman of several companies he has personal investments in, is adviser to the Senate Energy Committee, is a Director of the Federation of Philippine Industries and Chairman of the San Carlos Development Board.

Jose Maria Zabaleta, Jr.
President, Project Development Director
Sech is President of Bronzeoak Philippines Inc. and Vice‐Chairman of San Carlos Bioenergy Inc, both of which he co‐founded in 2003 and 2005, respectively. To date, San Carlos Bioenergy is the only greenfield biomass energy plant to have been completed in the Philippines, and the only dedicated sugar cane to energy facility in Southeast Asia. Today, with ten years of renewable energy experience behind him, Mr. Zabaleta is currently leading the development of two new biomass to power plants to serve the needs of rural electric distributors and help meet the country’s energy independence and environmental objectives. Prior to Bronzeoak, he trained with Citibank in Manila and Jardine Pacific in Hong Kong, and spent several years as a business strategy consultant in the UK for Landell Mills Commodities and JD Power & Associates. Mr. Zabaleta obtained his BS Management‐Honors degree from the Ateneo de Manila University, where he graduated with honors and was recognized for Outstanding Achievement in Finance, and holds a Masters in Business Administration from Duke University in the United States.

Joselito Barrera
Manager, Project Development Manager
Lito is both a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Philippine Bar Association, having completed accountancy at the University of the Philippines and law at Arellano University. He joined the Bronzeoak group in 2006 and has since become Legal Manager for the company and its projects under development. Prior to joining the company, he worked as an accountant for a Japanese Manufacturing Multinational, as a financial auditor with KPMG Philippines and as legal researcher at Guerrero & Acerin Law Partners.

Rogelio Debulgado
Director, Biomass Development
Roger has had a distinguished career in management, both in the private and public sectors. He is an Outstanding Alumni awardee from the University of the Philippines, where he obtained his BS Degree in Agriculture and Masters Degree in Sugar Technology, and a three‐time City Mayor of the Year awardee from the Asian Institute of Management. He began his career with the Sugar Regulatory Administration doing sugar research before joining the largest farming group in Negros and becoming Vice President for Operations for over a decade. Among other distinctions, he is credited with being responsible for introducing mechanization to the Philippine sugar industry. He then prematurely left his agribusiness career to run for, and become, Mayor of San Carlos, twice winning reelection before reaching the maximum legal term of nine years. He thereafter continued to lead several civic endeavors in San Carlos before returning to his agricultural roots as Director of Biomass Development for Bronzeoak and President of Biomass Resources.

Don Mario Dia
Director, Project Finance & Energy Markets
Don has over 30 years of experience in corporate finance, retail and investment, banking and risk assets administration. He started his career at Allied Banking Corporation in Manila and Hong Kong, then became the youngest group senior manager at Far East Bank and Trust Company, and later was Senior Vice President and Executive VP of two thrift banks. He then moved to corporate finance, becoming CFO of Enchanted Kingdom (the first theme park in the Philippines), Head of Treasury and Special Projects for the Lorenzo Group of Companies (Lapanday Holdings, Pepsi‐Cola Products Phils., Sterling Tobacco & others), and CFO of San Carlos Bioenergy, among others. Don joined Bronzeoak in 2005 and has led project debt financing activities and the pursuit of energy markets for the new plants under development. He also currently does work for Phil‐Bio’s methane biogas to energy business. He received advanced trainings in management and finance from Cornell University, the Asian Institute of Management and De La Salle University.

Brenda Hernandez
Comptroller, Financial Statements & Government Compliance
Brenda has more than 30 solid years of diversified experience in all aspects of accounting and auditing. A Certified Public Accountant, Brenda started her career at SGV & Company (Ernst & Young, Philippines) and then moved on to become Chief Accountant at Computer Engineering Corporation, and then to become Head of Internal Audit and then Head of Accounting for the Sugar Industry Foundation, Inc. She then went into public practice as a Certified Public Accountant, as Managing Partner of a boutique Accounting & Auditing firm, Hernandez, Recomite & Co. She joined Bronzeoak Philippines in 2005 and, as Comptroller, is responsible for all group and project Financial Statements and ensures Government Compliance. Brenda is an active member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Association of Certified Public Accountants in the Public Practice. Ms. Hernandez obtained a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree, major in Accounting, from the De La Salle University and graduated Cum Laude.

Ina Kadda
Manager, Project Development Manager
Ina has been the Project Development Manager of San Carlos Biopower since its conceptualization in 2009. She was previously with the development team that successfully completed the development and subsequent construction of San Carlos Bioenergy. She has been with the group since 2005, initially involved in energy crop development given her previous experience and expertise in forestry and the carbon markets and Clean Development Mechanism. Prior to joining Bronzeoak, she was Project Development Officer for EcoMarket Solutions, and previously a Consultant at the Center for International Forestry Research. She obtained a BS Degree in Forestry from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Science in Forest Resources Management. She is a Licensed Forester and has trained in carbon markets and forestry in Indonesia, Malaysia and Japan.

Maria Elena Menchaca
Treasurer, Treasury & Administration
Armed with a BS Degree in Commerce and Business Administration from La Salle University, Girl joined the corporate finance world for 12 years, becoming VP for Finance and Administration of the Ledesma Agricultural Group, one of the largest in the country. Thereafter, she moved on to spend 16 years in banking, heading the regional planning and administration offices for Land Bank of the Philippines, and then for the Philippine National Bank, where she was later Chairperson of the Bacolod Loan Center Credit Committee. She then joined Bronzeoak to become Resident Treasurer for San Carlos Bioenergy during its construction and start up period. She is presently based in San Carlos as Treasurer of San Carlos Biopower and also responsible for all corporate and project administration matters locally in San Carlos.

Juan Miguel Pons
Director, Technical Development
Mike had a successful 35 year career with San Miguel Corporation, the largest food, beverage and packaging company in the Philippines, with assets all over the Asia‐Pacific. He ended his career as vice‐president for corporate engineering after heading several of its technical and operating units over the years. Among others, he was involved in the erection of a 50 MW power plant and water reservoir of 77 hectares for a 400 mt/day integrated pulp and paper mill, and project and construction manager for various projects such as a pipe fittings company, a meat processing plant, an integrated chicken processing plant and feed mill, a 10 mt/hour shrimp feed mill, a 225kl alcohol distillery and power plant, and a mineral/spring water bottling plant. After retiring from San Miguel, he moved to San Carlos in 2006 to plan the construction of San Carlos Bioenergy, then of Northeastern Port & Storage, and has spent the past year planning for the construction of San Carlos Biopower. Mike has a BS Mechanical Engineering degree from De La Salle University in Manila.

Jasper Vicencio
Manager, Feasibility & Financial Analysis
Industrial Engineer and Chemical Engineer by training, Jasper spent the first nine years of his career with San Miguel Corporation, the Food and Beverage giant, first in their product, materials and supply planning group, and later in operations planning, and then corporate planning. He then became IE Manager for Corporate Planning at Red Ribbon, part of Jollibee Foods, before joining the Bronzeoak group in early 2008, first responsible for corporate analysis and planning for San Carlos Bioenergy, and now as Manager for feasibility and financial analysis. He has a BS Degree in Engineering from De La Salle University and has received training extensive training in analysis and planning.

Luis Villa-Abrille
Director, Project Feasibility & Operations Planning
Louie has over 30 years experience in general engineering management, project development and project management of process plant and equipment. He began his career with the Victorias Milling Company, the largest sugar company in the Philippines, becoming Manager for Mills and Boilers, before moving to Philippine Cocoa Corp as Vice President for Manufacturing. Thereafter, Mr. Villa-Abrille was co-owner and Vice President for Operations of Fil-Kor Foods, Inc., and later consultant to Nouvelle Foods, Inc. He joined Bronzeoak in 2005 as Operations Director and later became President of San Carlos Bioenergy, responsible for the successful construction and operational start-up thereof, before moving on to prepare the operational feasibility and concept design for San Carlos Biopower and consult on the ongoing construction of a new Bioethanol and Power Plant in Northern Philippines. Louie has a BS Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Santo Tomas and an MBA from VIM – De La Salle Bacolod.

Alison Partin Zabaleta
Manager, International Marketing & Communications
Alison spent five years in Virginia and Washington DC with the energy and tax lobby group of the international law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP. Thereafter, she moved to the public sector as Senior Energy & Environment Analyst for the National Governors Association. In late 2009, she joined Bronzeoak to lead its work with the Hawaii Natural Energy Institute and partner firms on the feasibility of an integrated next generation biofuel refinery in Hawaii. In addition, she now also works with Bronzeoak in the preparation of Information Memoranda and other project documentation, as well as the management of international marketing activities. She holds a BA Degree in English from the College of William & Mary and a Masters Degree in Public Policy, specializing in the Energy Sector, from Georgetown University.

Xavier Zabaleta
Director, Supply Chain & Logistics
Although Xabi’s primary group role is as President and/or Director of family holdings in construction and property development, he has been leading Bronzeoak’s research and planning of biomass collection and logistics since 2004. He led the implementation of the Cane Residue Collection Trial & Viability Study in Talisay for the UK Government and implemented the Energy Crop Plantation Trial Project for the European Union. He led the research and planning for the supplemental fuel of San Carlos Bioenergy and in 2009 was able to implement the first commercial operations to collect and supply cane residue on the island of Negros. Xabi has a Bachelors Degree specializing in Business from the University of Asia and the Pacific.
